    • KH Houston Helps Transplant Patients Start a New Life
      June 17, 2010

Because we are in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, at Kindred Hospital Houston we admit patients with a wide variety of diagnoses. One type of patient we have the privilege to treat is a lung transplant patient. Patients are referred for transplantation at a point in their disease at which death is considered likely within 2-3 years. So even before they receive new lungs they are usually very debilitated.

Since January 2010 we have taken part in rehabilitating approximately twelve lung transplant patients so far this year. Together with a strong and knowledgeable therapy staff of respiratory, physical, occupational and speech therapists we help these patients start a new life. With new lungs and renewed strength and endurance that these patients haven’t had in a long time, here at Kindred Hospital Houston we are helping to give patients back an improved quality of life.
